When you arrive at Portland International Airport (PDX), you have the following transportation options to get to PSU:
FREE AIRPORT PICK-UP Friends of Overseas Citizens and University Students (FOCUS) can provide any new PSU visiting scholar with a free ride from the Portland airport when you first arrive. For more information about the airport pick-up service and to make a reservation, please visit the FOCUS airport pick-up web site. Reservations must be made at least one week before arrival. If you are arriving with family members, be sure to include family information in your reservation.
Pickups are performed by FOCUS volunteers. It may be difficult to schedule our volunteers during the following holiday times: Memorial Day Weekend (Friday-Monday, the last Monday in May); Independence Day (July 4); Labor Day Weekend (Friday-Monday, the first Monday in September) ; Thanksgiving Day (the fourth Thursday in November); Christmas Eve and Christmas Day (December 24 and 25); New Year's Eve and New Year's Day (December 31 & January 1).
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION TriMet is the regional public transit system in Portland. The TriMet MAX Red Line light rail service runs from the airport to downtown every 15 minutes and costs $2.50. To get to PSU, take the MAX Red Line to the Rose Quarter MAX Station. You can change to a MAX Yellow Line or Green Line train at the Rose Quarter MAX Station and either one will take you right to PSU. The entire trip takes approximately 45 minutes. MAX schedules can be found on the TriMet web site.
TAXI CAB Hiring a taxi is your fastest and most expensive option. Taxis are always available at the airport and will charge about $40 for a ride to PSU. The ride will take 20-40 minutes. |
